Flora Europaea the taxon Trifolium procumbens L. is considered as nomen ambiguum due to inconsistent and confusing publication of this in Species Plantarum ed. I (1753) and Flora Suecica (1755) but under this name there is seemingly an individual of this species in the Linnean collections           A common mesic and mesoxeric grassland species.
